What We Validate?

We provide subject matter experts and proprietary technology to perform regulatory compliant thermal validations / mappings of the following equipment (non-exhaustive list):

Lyophilizers

Lyophilizers are tricky pieces of equipment for thermal mapping, due to their extreme low temperatures and short shelf space.

Thermocouples are the traditional thermal mapping tool, but need hours of time to set up.

A better option for thermal mapping lyophilizers is wireless data loggers. Data loggers can be simply placed inside the chamber and will record the temperature data much more easily.

Wireless data loggers from Lives International come with a copper cap specifically designed for lyophilizers. The RTD sensor is placed against the cap, which lays flat on the lyophilizer shelf. This allows you to collect accurate thermal data about the shelves.

Lyophilizers (Freeze-dryers)

Freezers

Working with biological materials in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries requires these materials be stored at precise temperatures. Pharmaceutical freezers and refrigerators are used to ensure these temperatures, but must be validated regularly to make sure they provide the right temperature.

Typically, thermal mapping and validation is done with thermocouples. This is not an ideal solution for freezers and refrigerators, as the thermocouples run the risk of breaking the door seal. The freezer or refrigerator must also be emptied during the installation process, as it keeps the door open for a long period of time.

Lives International provides a better solution with XpertLog wireless data loggers. There are no wires to run through the door seal, and the easy installation means products can stay in the freezer. The XpertLog dataloggers also have the benefit of being made of thermoplastic material, so they do not carry any heat load.

Freezers

Refrigerators

The reliability of refrigerators is crucial for pharmaceutical and biotech companies, as temperature-sensitive products are stored in cold environments. Refrigerators used for these purposes must be periodically validated to ensure they are keeping products at the proper temperature no matter where in the refrigerator they are placed.

Cold rooms

Thermally mapping a cold room or walk-in chamber is often thought of as a lengthy and messy process. Traditional thermocouple systems require hours of positioning and careful precision to ensure the thermocouples aren’t entangled with people or equipment. Additionally, it requires people to be in the cold rooms for extended periods of time.

Lives International has a better solution with XpertLog wireless dataloggers. These dataloggers can be installed in under an hour, and are unobtrusive. The small dataloggers can be placed on compression poles or even hung from ropes to ensure they are in the ideal place for accurate data collection without disrupting normal operations.

Warehouses

Warehouses can be difficult to ensure accurate maintained temperature and humidity, which is why regular validation is a necessity. Traditional validation with thermocouples is a lengthy process with expensive equipment, as multiple systems and very long thermocouples must be used.

Lives International provides an alternative with the XpertLog wireless datalogger system. These dataloggers can be installed in the warehouse in a fraction of the time, and won’t disrupt normal operations. A single system can be installed without worrying about distance, and there are no wires to get tangled. Additionally, as time is saved on validation, the process can be repeated multiple times a year to ensure the warehouse has accurate temperature and humidity in any season.

Ovens

Ovens are used in a variety of industries. However, no matter what their uses are, all ovens should be heating products at a standard temperature throughout the chamber.

Thermal validation equipment from Lives International is the solution to ensure your ovens are heating at standard temperatures. The wireless dataloggers make temperature mapping a simple and quick process, as all you need to do is place the loggers inside the oven to run a test. The loggers send the data straight to your computer, allowing you to see the temperature in the oven in real time up to 140 C.

Incubators

Incubators are valuable tools in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, as they often hold living biological material. They control a variety of factors including temperature and humidity. Therefore, validation equipment needs to make sure that all of these factors are accurately controlled.

Lives International offers XpertLog wireless dataloggers for this process. Our loggers have been designed with thermal mapping and validation for incubators in mind. Installing the dataloggers is as simple as placing them inside the incubator, so there’s no need to disturb any product resting inside.

Stability chambers

Stability chambers are important in the pharmaceutical industry for testing the shelf life of products. These chambers must stay at a reliable temperature and humidity for the most accurate results, so regular validation is necessary.

Thermocouples are often used for mapping stability chambers. However, this is a time intensive process, as stability chambers can be large and the thermocouples must be places precisely. Also, as the thermocouple wires are required to pass through door seals, there is a risk for something to go wrong and cost more valuable time.

A better solution is XpertLog wireless dataloggers from Lives International. These dataloggers are simple to calibrate and even easier to install. Installation can be done within minutes, and the data gathered in real time is accurate and reliable. Additionally, the quick installation process means the products inside the stability chambers will not be bothered during the process.

Stability chambers

Autoclaves

Autoclaves are extremely important pieces of equipment for the biotech industry, and must be maintained at exact temperatures. Thermally mapping and validating these chambers can be a challenging process.

Traditional thermal mapping and validation requires using thermocouples, a messy system of probes and wires that must be places exactly within the autoclave. The installation process is typically slow and requires the autoclave be unused for many hours.

Thermocouples are not the best solution.

Wireless dataloggers are the best autoclave validation equipment available. With dataloggers such as Lives International’s XpertLog System, calibration and installation are much simpler processes which can save hours or even days.

Autoclaves

Steam in place (SIP)

Stability chambers are important in the pharmaceutical industry for testing the shelf life of products. These chambers must stay at a reliable temperature and humidity for the most accurate results, so regular validation is necessary.

Full Thermal Validation / Mapping Services

We analyze the project with the project owner and define if the current protocol is to be used or a new protocol is to be developed

We map user’s equipment

We prepare a final report from XpertLog® software with a Pass / Fail conclusion based on user’s acceptance criteria

If the final report is a “Fail” we suggest an action plan to implement corrections

A follow-up mapping may then be needed to verify the effectiveness of the implemented corrections.

We generate a custom thermal validation report based on the approved protocol.

On Site Mapping Services

The project owner provides their current protocol

We run the pre/post calibration of our thermal validation equipment in-situ

We map user’s equipment

XpertLog® software generates a final report, with a Pass / Fail conclusion based on user’s acceptance criteria

We generate a custom thermal mapping report based on the approved protocol

Off Site Mapping Services

The project owner provides their current protocol

We send to the user a mapping kit, already pre-calibrated and pre-programmed to start at a defined time

The user installs the kit on site and returns it to us at the end of the mapping

We run a post-calibration then generate the final report from XpertLog® software with a Pass / Fail conclusion based on user’s acceptance criteria

Warning: Lives International takes responsability only for data collected by data loggers, not for the way the loggers have been installed by the user
